Review Policy

Hi there!

Thank you for taking the time to read this page and knowing what type of books  I’ll be considering for review.

Know that majority of the things I’ll be posting on this blog is about books and anything book related.

FOR BOOK REVIEWS, HERE ARE MY PREFERENCES:

– Young Adult
– New Adult
– Fantasy
– Science Fiction
– Contemporary
– Romance

WHAT I AM NOT REVIEWING:

– As of the moment, I am not reviewing Self-published books as well as books that are published by smaller unknown publishers. It’s not in any way to disrespect you, but because of some bad experience I’ve had with them and their reaction to negative reviews.

Non-fiction. It’s just not something I enjoy reading. I’ll only read them when I find it interesting, which is not most of the time.

Religious works. I don’t consider myself a highly religious person, but I do value my religion. However, I don’t think it would be something I’ll be able to review.

POLICY ABOUT NEGATIVE REVIEWS

When I don’t like a book, I say it. I don’t like sugarcoating stuff. I say what I have to say because I believe the readers deserves to know what my real opinion is about something. However, for review requests sent by authors, I tend to be a bit more careful with them. In case I don’t end up loving or, at least, liking the book, I would be notifying the author and ask them if they would be okay for me to post my not-so-positive review of their book.

You might be curious why. My answer to that is because I know writing a book isn’t easy. How would I know? Because I’m an aspiring writing who have not wrote even a single story. It’s depressing, I know, but the point is, it’s not easy. I respect these authors and for them to give you a copy of their work for free to review it, is something I find admirable. They want to get their book out there, as much as possible, to gain more publicity. I get that. But, if a book is given to me for free by the author, it just doesn’t feel right for me to negatively comment on the work of someone who gave it to me. If I purchased it, that would be a different story because I already paid for your work. They have no control over what I say about the book. Free books are different for me.

So that’s that. I tell the author if they want me to publish my review or not. If they don’t, then I don’t post a review but will leave a rating on Goodreads.

HOW TO DO I SEND MY REQUEST?

You can send me an e-mail at deardarlingreader (at) gmail (dot) com

WHAT IF I DON’T RECEIVE A RESPONSE?

I apologize in advise if I don’t respond right away or don’t respond at all. I’m a single parentwho works full time, and is a part-time blogger and reviewer, I can only do so much. The no-response would probably be due to the fact that you did not read anything of what I’ve said above or that I’m just insanely busy and would reply at a later date. But most likely, it’s because of your request not fitting any of the things I have already mentioned.
